GIS Specialist – Utility Mapping, Data Quality, Data Acceptance Testing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assist in mapping, validating data, and conducting quality assurance tasks for electric utility asset systems.

• Implement Data Acceptance Testing (DAT) workflows, which include the validation of merged datasets.

• Ensure that integrated asset data adheres to established acceptance criteria, quality benchmarks, and program specifications.

• Carry out GIS editing and remedial data operations for electric utility assets.

• Update and sustain spatial and attribute data in alignment with prescribed standards and processes.

• Aid in data cleanup efforts to enhance the quality of asset data.

• Conduct Data Acceptance Testing (DAT) workflows on merged GIS and asset datasets.

• Verify the spatial and attribute accuracy of assets and perform structured sampling.

• Keep detailed logs of throughput and contribute to the establishment of performance metrics.

• Assess field-collected and third-party data prior to its integration into the system.

• Engage in QA/QC reviews to guarantee compliance with program standards.

• Offer insights on workflow inefficiencies and assist in ongoing improvement initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, or a related discipline.

• 3–5 years of relevant professional GIS experience.

• Experience in supporting mapping, data maintenance, or asset data workflows.

• Preferred experience in structured QA/QC or data validation settings.

• Proficient in enterprise GIS platforms (preferably Esri) and spatial data editing.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and quality.

• Ability to adhere to defined processes, workflows, and acceptance criteria.

• Familiarity with QA/QC methodologies and data validation procedures.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Capacity to manage high-volume workloads in a production-focused environment.
