This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Supervise daily service operations related to electrical testing, commissioning, protection & control systems, and maintenance services.
• Ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and adhere to Shermco and industry standards.
• Direct scheduling, dispatching, and workforce utilization among technicians, engineers, and specialists.
• Maintain consistency in documentation, QA/QC processes, and standards for field execution.
• Assist in successful project delivery, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and client needs are fulfilled.
• Provide expertise in protection and control systems, encompassing commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and system integration.
• Aid in the development and standardization of P&C procedures, practices, and documentation.
• Oversee the quality and technical precision of relay testing, settings verification, and system validation.
• Mentor and cultivate technical staff in protection & control proficiencies.
• Ensure adherence to NETA, CSA, utility standards, and specific client requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors, engineers, and field personnel.
• Drive workforce planning, recruitment, and succession strategies in collaboration with HR.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
• Conduct performance management, training, and career development planning.
• Support the growth of technical capabilities, particularly in protection & control disciplines.
• Ensure complete compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and Shermco safety programs.
• Enforce adherence to the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA standards, and NETA guidelines.
• Lead safety initiatives, audits, incident investigations, and prevention programs.
• Ensure compliance with employment standards and all regulatory obligations.
• Foster a proactive safety culture across all field and operational activities.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance of operations.
• Monitor key performance indicators including utilization, job costing, margins, and productivity.
• Identify and implement strategies for cost optimization and revenue growth.
• Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership.
• Build and sustain strong client relationships through consistent, high-quality service delivery.
• Support complex project execution, issue resolution, and escalation management.
• Ensure all work meets contractual obligations and surpasses client expectations.
• Collaborate with Sales to aid in business development and client retention efforts.
• Partner with Safety, HR, Finance, Engineering, and Sales teams to achieve business goals.
• Align workforce capacity with project demands and strategic growth initiatives.
• Drive the integration of systems, tools, and processes across the organization.
• Escalate risks, resource gaps, and operational challenges as necessary.
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Over 10 years of experience in electrical services, power systems, or industrial operations.
• Significant experience in protection & control systems, including relay testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Proven leadership experience in managing multi-disciplinary field teams and business operations.
• Demonstrated experience in P&L management, budgeting, and overseeing operational performance.
• Strong understanding of WorkSafeBC, Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA standards, and NETA practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
• Experience in workforce planning, scheduling, and coordinating large-scale projects.
• Ability to function effectively in a remote leadership role with frequent travel (up to 50%).
