Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Somalia.

📋 Description

• Oversee a gender and social inclusion analysis as part of the TPDP situational assessment.

• Recognize obstacles to CPD participation, particularly for female educators and marginalized groups in rural, nomadic, conflict-impacted, and Integrated Quranic School environments.

• Offer technical guidance to ensure that TPDP policies, systems, and implementation strategies are gender-responsive and inclusive.

• Provide advice on inclusive CPD delivery models tailored for low-resource, low-connectivity, and geographically dispersed areas.

• Incorporate gender and inclusion considerations into stakeholder consultations involving MoECHE, Federal Member States, Teacher Training Colleges, teacher associations, Islamic scholar networks, and development partners.

• Contribute to the development of inclusive frameworks, tools, and recommendations that encompass implementation planning, governance, quality assurance, M&E, and digital learning systems.

• Ensure that indicators, baseline tools, and reporting methods effectively collect sex-disaggregated and inclusion-sensitive data.

• Collaborate with the Team Leader and technical specialists to integrate gender and inclusion throughout all deliverables.

• Produce written sections, recommendations, and review comments to generate practical, evidence-based outputs tailored to the Somali context.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Education, Social Science, or a related discipline.

• At least 8 years of pertinent professional experience.

• Proven experience in gender-responsive program design.

• Expertise in analyzing barriers to female teacher participation and broader social inclusion challenges.

• Background in designing or advising on inclusive CPD, education, or teacher development strategies in rural, nomadic, fragile, or low-resource contexts.

• In-depth understanding of equity and inclusion issues that impact access, participation, and retention within educational systems.

• Experience working on donor-funded education initiatives, ideally in fragile or conflict-affected environments.

• Professionally proficient and fluent in both written and spoken English.
