Game Linguist, ZHCN to EN

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver comprehensive game localization and translation services for a premier mobile gaming account.

• Adapt in-game user interface, narratives, character dialogues, and promotional content.

• Conduct linguistic localization quality assurance (LQA).

• Refine narrative elements.

• Modify content to suit cross-cultural contexts.

• Engage in creative brainstorming sessions with game development teams.

• Facilitate information verification, non-disclosure agreement (NDA) signing, qualification sample testing, and onboarding processes.

• Work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, during standard business hours.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in game localization.

• Native or near-native proficiency in English.

• Expertise in the ZHCN → EN language pair.

• Availability during standard business hours.

• One of the following qualifications: a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or Language Studies (or equivalent with substantial translation training); 2+ years of translation experience along with a college degree; 5+ years of translation experience without a degree; or a translation certification from a recognized governmental authority.

• Candidates must sign a confidentiality agreement.

• Completion of a translation test is required for applicants.

• Experience in gaming translation/localization, including knowledge of gaming genres, relevant client lists, and estimated word counts.

• Ability to undertake a brief unpaid qualification assessment test within the next few days.

• Experience playing mobile games is recommended.
