Game Linguist, ZHCN to EN

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver comprehensive game localization and translation services from Simplified Chinese to English.

• Adapt in-game user interfaces, narratives, character dialogues, and promotional materials.

• Conduct linguistic quality assurance (LQA).

• Refine narratives and modify content for cross-cultural relevance.

• Engage in creative brainstorming sessions with game development teams.

• Complete tasks related to information verification, sign non-disclosure agreements, undertake qualification sample tests, and fulfill onboarding procedures.

• Available to work during core business hours, committing to 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in game localization.

• Proficient in English at a native or near-native level.

• Expertise in localization from ZHCN to EN within the gaming industry.

• At least one of the following qualifications: a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or Language Studies (or equivalent with substantial translation training); a minimum of 2 years of translation experience paired with a college degree; over 5 years of translation experience without a degree; or a translation certification from a recognized governmental authority.

• Capacity to work during core business hours.

• Must be available for 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

• Prepared to complete a brief unpaid qualification assessment test.

• Required to sign a confidentiality agreement.

• Must undertake a translation test.

• Experience in gaming translation/localization, including familiarity with various gaming genres, partial client lists, and estimated word counts.

• Background in gaming, preferably with mobile games.

• Capable of completing information verification and onboarding processes.
