Game Linguist, ZHCN to EN

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Execute the complete process of game localization and translation from Simplified Chinese to English.

• Adapt in-game user interface, narratives, character dialogues, and marketing materials.

• Conduct linguistic quality assurance (LQA).

• Refine narratives and modify content to suit cross-cultural contexts.

• Engage in creative brainstorming sessions alongside game development teams.

• Commit to a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, during standard business hours.

• Handle information verification, sign non-disclosure agreements, participate in qualification sample assessments, and complete onboarding procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in game localization.

• Native or close-to-native proficiency in English.

• Expertise in translating from Simplified Chinese to English.

• At least one of the following: a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or Language Studies with substantial translation training; a minimum of 2 years of translation experience along with a college degree; over 5 years of translation experience without a degree; or a translation certification from a recognized governmental authority.

• Experience in gaming translation and localization, including familiarity with various gaming genres, partial client portfolios, and estimated word counts.

• Availability during standard business hours.

• Capability to complete a brief unpaid qualification assessment test.

• Willingness to enter into a confidentiality agreement.

• Ability to undertake a translation test.

• Experience with gaming, particularly in mobile games.
