Full-Stack Geospatial Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Design comprehensive systems: Create satellite-image processing pipelines (STAC → xarray → Parquet/Zarr/IPFS) along with microservices that deliver results via GraphQL/REST.

• Deliver product features: Develop dashboards in Next.js/React and geospatial APIs in Node/Python/FastAPI that resonate with climate-finance customers.

• Scale and secure: Implement automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform/Pulumi, establish CI/CD practices, and ensure robust orchestration with Prefect. Optimize memory and I/O to maintain cost-effective petabyte workflows.

• Guide and mentor: Set engineering best practices, conduct code reviews, and nurture the next generation of Cyclops engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient across the stack: Expertise in Python for data along with Typescript, React/Next.js, and Node.js.

• Strong data infrastructure skills: Experience with Dask/DuckDB; familiarity with S3 & object-store patterns; adept in data pipelining using orchestration tools like Prefect, columnar formats (Parquet, Arrow), and chunked stores (Zarr, Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF), Docker.

• Knowledge of GIS / remote sensing: Proficient in Google Earth Engine, QGIS, Rasterio, GDAL, PROJ, xarray, GeoPandas, STAC, and EO tiling schemes.

• Expertise in Cloud & DevOps: Skilled in Docker, IaC, Prefect, as well as AWS compute services and observability tools (Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry).

• Systems-oriented mindset: Comfortable with reasoning about distributed systems, eventual consistency, and data-versioning at scales exceeding petabytes.

• Proactive with a tolerance for ambiguity: You transform partially written Notion documents into fully shipped features without requiring constant supervision.
