Full-stack Engineer 5 – Shopping

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee a portfolio of varied technology projects alongside a team of developers utilizing distributed microservices and full-stack systems.

• Develop solutions that address the regulatory requirements of the company.

• Remain updated on technology trends, experiment with and acquire new technologies, and engage in both internal and external technology communities.

• Provide mentorship to members of the engineering community.

• Work in partnership with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that cater to millions of Americans.

• Offer technical leadership across various teams, influencing system architecture and the long-term technological vision.

• Spearhead the end-to-end design and execution of large-scale, distributed, or cloud-native systems that meet high reliability and performance standards.

• Collaborate with architects and product leaders to outline platform roadmaps and shared-services strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline (such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering).

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience is not applicable).

• At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

• Familiarity with open-source RDBMS and NoSQL databases.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of AWS tools and services.

• Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Preferred: Over 9 years of coding experience in more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.

• Preferred: More than 5 years contributing to open source frameworks.

• Preferred: Over 5 years working with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.

• Preferred: More than 5 years developing synchronous and asynchronous APIs.

• Preferred: At least 4 years of experience with database management systems.

• Preferred: Over 4 years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: At least 4 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks.

• Preferred: Over 4 years using Git-based version-control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub, Bitbucket).

• Preferred: More than 4 years troubleshooting technical issues within cloud environments.

• Preferred: At least 3 years mentoring senior engineers and encouraging professional growth within technical teams.

• Preferred: Over 2 years utilizing observability to identify and enhance performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.

• Preferred: At least 1 year leading architectural design reviews and influencing enterprise-wide technical standards and methodologies.

• Preferred: Over 1 year establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.

• Preferred: More than 1 year implementing observability and reliability practices at scale.

• Experience with modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.

• Proven ability to influence technology strategy at the portfolio or business unit level.

• Familiarity with interactive AI tooling beyond basic code completion.

• Experience leading cross-functional engineering projects or large-scale technical initiatives.
