Full-Stack Engineer 5

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee a diverse range of technology projects while managing a team of developers focused on creating distributed microservices and full-stack systems that comply with regulatory standards.

• Keep abreast of technological advancements, experiment with novel technologies, and engage with both internal and external tech communities.

• Provide mentorship to members of the engineering team.

• Work collaboratively with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans financially.

• Utilize technologies such as Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, open-source RDBMS, NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services.

• Offer technical leadership across various teams, influencing system architecture and long-term technology strategy.

• Lead the comprehensive design and implementation of large-scale, distributed, or cloud-native systems that meet high reliability and performance standards.

• Collaborate with architects and product leaders to outline platform roadmaps and strategies for shared services.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering).

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering; internship experience is not considered.

• At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Preferred: Over 9 years of experience programming with more than two of the following languages: Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala.

• Preferred: More than 5 years contributing to open-source frameworks.

• Preferred: More than 5 years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.

• Preferred: More than 5 years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.

• Preferred: Over 4 years of experience with databases and database management systems.

• Preferred: More than 4 years working with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: Over 4 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks.

• Preferred: More than 4 years using Git-based version control systems.

• Preferred: Over 4 years troubleshooting technical issues within cloud environments.

• Preferred: More than 3 years mentoring senior engineers and fostering professional development within technical teams.

• Preferred: At least 2 years utilizing observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.

• Preferred: More than 1 year leading architectural design reviews and shaping enterprise-wide technical standards and methodologies.

• Preferred: Over 1 year establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.

• Preferred: More than 1 year implementing observability and reliability practices at scale.

• Preferred experience with modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.

• Preferred experience influencing technology strategy at the portfolio or business unit level.

• Preferred experience with interactive AI tools that go beyond simple code completion.

• Preferred experience leading cross-functional engineering initiatives or large-scale technical projects.
