Full-stack Engineer 4 – Shopping

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee a diverse range of technology projects and manage a team of developers utilizing distributed microservices and full-stack systems.

• Develop solutions that align with the regulatory requirements of Capital One.

• Remain up-to-date with technological advancements, explore and learn new technologies, and engage in both internal and external technology communities.

• Provide mentorship to members of the engineering community.

• Collaborate with digital product managers to create robust cloud-based solutions that enhance customer experiences.

• Employ Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, open-source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services.

• Offer technical leadership and guidance across Agile teams.

• Establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence.

• Work alongside architects to determine service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.

• Identify opportunities for enhancement through targeted refactoring and reduction of technical debt.

• Improve system performance.

• Shape long-term technology strategy by assessing emerging tools and practices within a “you build it, you own it” culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering).

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering; internship experience is not considered.

• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Preferred: 7+ years of coding experience with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with databases and database management systems.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: 4+ years of experience contributing to open-source frameworks.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.

• Preferred: 4+ years of experience creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience using Git-based version-control systems.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.

• Preferred: Experience utilizing modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.

• Preferred: 1+ year of experience mentoring engineers and fostering professional development within technical teams.

• Preferred: 1+ year of experience leveraging observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.

• Preferred: Experience with interactive AI tools beyond basic code completion.

• Preferred: Experience leading cross-functional engineering projects or large-scale technical initiatives.

• Preferred: Experience in establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.
