This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Contribute to the development of platform capabilities by writing clean, well-tested code that adheres to established service contracts, event schemas, and data models.
• Build, test, and support services throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial development to production, taking responsibility for the quality of your own work.
• Operate within API-first, event-driven patterns while following agreed-upon platform architecture and governance standards under the supervision of the engineering lead.
• Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools as a standard part of your daily workflow to write, validate, and refactor code more efficiently.
• Implement integrations with the policy administration system and internal service dependencies, adhering to established patterns and contracts.
• Develop workflow features that facilitate insurance processes such as underwriting and policy issuance, working from well-defined requirements.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner, Solution Architect, and team members to clearly understand requirements, ask pertinent questions, and identify risks early.
• Consistently apply security and compliance patterns — including identity, access control, encryption, and data handling — in every feature you deliver.
• Ensure testing quality by writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests as part of each task.
• Engage in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering features end-to-end on a production system.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript / Node.js along with practical experience in building and deploying services on cloud-native infrastructure.
• Working experience with event-driven or asynchronous integration patterns, and an understanding of their significance in distributed systems.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools in daily engineering tasks and a willingness to integrate them as a core aspect of your workflow.
• Familiarity with both document and relational database models, and the ability to write correct and efficient queries for each.
• Foundational understanding of security and compliance practices — including authentication, authorization, secrets handling, and secure data storage.
• A disciplined approach to testing — unit, integration, and E2E — with a habit of writing tests alongside code rather than afterwards.
• Some exposure to insurance or fintech — even as a user or in a related role — along with a genuine curiosity to explore the domain further.
• Basic familiarity with compliance-aware development — such as HIPAA, SOC2, or PCI-DSS — and its practical implications for shipping products.
• Experience working in a startup or scaling team where you have had to quickly adapt and deliver results with minimal guidance.
• Employees are eligible for an annual incentive bonus designed to reward performance.
• Flexible paid time off for PTO, plus paid holidays, Days of Significance, and a Volunteer Day.
• Paid parental leave available after 3 months of service.
• Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance.
• 401k with company match.
• Profit Sharing & Savings Plan.
• Short-term and long-term disability insurance.
• Flexible spending account.
