Frontend Web Development, Online Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Recognize trends that may hinder students’ academic success.

• Perform targeted outreach and deliver instruction to both groups and individuals.

• Guide and educate students in Frontend Web Development courses utilizing JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

• Assist with courses WDD 130, WDD 131, WDD 231, and WDD 330.

• Utilize university and departmental guidelines and materials for teaching and mentoring students.

• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the curriculum and weekly assignments.

• Address student inquiries and concerns regarding course content and assignments promptly.

• Promote learning through various channels including posts, announcements, emails, one-on-one virtual meetings, and videos.

• Regularly communicate with students about their participation and performance.

• Implement outreach plans for classes, groups, and individuals based on student trends and needs.

• Establish meaningful connections with students via consistent communication.

• Keep records of communication histories and student interactions, and plan follow-up actions.

• Engage in occasional training sessions and meetings.

• Incorporate training and evaluation feedback to enhance performance.

• Foster capable learners who are confident in their academic and life achievements.

• Instructors do not create lessons or assessments and do not assign grades; grading is managed by a centralized pool of qualified graders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Applicants must be fluent in English and submit their applications in English.

• Must currently reside in and have authorization to work in Brazil.

• Fluency in both English and Portuguese is required.

• A completed bachelor’s degree is the minimum qualification.

• Academic credentials must be officially recognized in Brazil and the country of origin.

• Ability to adapt to new processes, procedures, and technologies.

• Excellent interpersonal skills; must be professional, respectful, and impartial in sensitive situations.

• Demonstrated reliability and capacity to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, video conferencing tools, and discipline-specific software.

• Experience in online teaching and learning, particularly with at-risk learners, is preferred.

• A master’s degree in computer science or a related field along with two years of professional web development experience is preferred.

• A bachelor’s degree accompanied by 3–5 years of work experience may be acceptable.

• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and JSON is required.

• Understanding of web design principles, including simplicity, responsiveness, usability, and visual design.

• Expert proficiency in DOM manipulation, form and event handling, JavaScript objects and functions, CSS layout and presentation, and data retrieval techniques.

• Familiarity with version control software such as GitHub.

• Experience using code editors like Visual Studio Code.

• Knowledge of browser tools such as Chrome Developer Tools.

• Ability to communicate clearly in writing.

• Must adhere to the CES Honor Code and maintain appropriate dress and grooming standards.

• An official transcript and a copy of the diploma must be provided if progressing to the next stage of hiring.
