📋 Description

• Lead the Frontend Guild

• Create a guild environment that engineers genuinely want to engage with — one that identifies real challenges, shares knowledge, and generates outputs (standards, patterns, tooling selections, ADRs) that teams will actively utilize.

• Leverage the guild as your most potent tool — when it operates effectively, it amplifies your impact far beyond individual capabilities.

• Establish technical direction and uphold quality standards.

• Oversee the frontend technical direction for your area.

• Define guidelines and standards that empower teams with speed and confidence, rather than hindering progress.

• Remain closely involved in architectural and technical decisions across teams.

• Ensure that technical debt and risks are transparent and actively managed.

• Propel initiatives that yield consistent, measurable advancements.

• Specify what constitutes “healthy” for frontend systems — including instrumentation standards, alerting principles, and SLO patterns — ensuring reliability is prioritized from the outset.

• Collaborate with Engineering Managers and the Head of Engineering to balance technical endeavors with product initiatives.

• Cultivate relationships and develop the individuals around you.

• Dedicate time to understanding each team — their operational methods, challenges, and strengths.

• Recognize which teams can function independently within the guidelines and which require more active support, investing your time accordingly.

• Actively mentor engineers within your area, assisting them in broadening their technical perspectives and fostering a mindset that transcends their immediate team.

• Promote a culture of curiosity, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement — not only within the guild but also in the daily operations of the teams you engage with.

• Serve as a bridge between engineering and the broader organization.

• Clearly communicate technical trade-offs, risks, and decisions to non-technical stakeholders — focusing on impact rather than implementation specifics.

• Collaborate with Engineering Managers to maintain a balance between technical health and project delivery.

• You are not merely a receiver of product direction; you actively contribute to its formation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of software development experience, possessing deep expertise in contemporary web frontend technologies and a proven track record of working across multiple teams and codebases — not limited to just one.

• You have previously established technical direction. You understand what it takes to create standards that engineers will genuinely adhere to, recognizing that the strength of your relationships often determines the success of your architectural initiatives.

• You naturally foster trust. You invest time in understanding the people and teams you collaborate with — their strengths, limitations, and context — using this insight to lead more effectively rather than manage more rigidly.

• You adapt your leadership approach to fit the situation. When teams are engaged and capable, you focus on empowering and uplifting them. When they are not, you take a hands-on approach, building relationships and earning the right to guide.

• You can maintain both technical depth and organizational breadth simultaneously. You are credible in architectural reviews and equally comfortable conversing with an Engineering Manager or a product stakeholder.

• Exceptional English communication skills — you can convey complex technical concepts clearly to engineers, designers, and non-technical stakeholders alike.

• You lead by example. The code you produce and the choices you make reflect the standards you expect from others.
