This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.
• Design and enhance the architecture of a substantial Next.js (App Router) application, focusing on rendering strategies such as SSR, SSG, ISR, and RSC, along with code-splitting and bundle optimization.
• Lead web performance initiatives from start to finish, including Core Web Vitals metrics (LCP, INP, CLS), edge caching solutions, and RUM-based assessments.
• Establish engineering standards through code reviews, collaborative coding, and tackling the most complex or unclear tasks.
• Manage frontend observability, including tracing, RUM, and integrating production feedback into engineering choices.
• Collaborate on the CDN and caching strategies alongside platform and infrastructure teams, addressing cache keys, Vary, surrogate keys, and edge logic.
• Mentor and develop a team of 4-6 frontend engineers, focusing on one-on-one meetings, growth plans, and performance evaluations.
• Take responsibility for team deliverables, including planning, prioritization, scoping, and setting realistic commitments.
• Work in partnership with product, design, backend, and DevOps teams on the roadmap and technical trade-offs.
• Enhance team efficiency by refining branching strategies, CI/CD processes, definitions of done, and release procedures.
• Over 7 years of frontend engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of React and TypeScript, with hands-on production experience in Next.js (preferably with App Router/RSC).
• Proven experience in web performance optimization and an understanding of how rendering strategies impact performance.
• Strong understanding of how browsers, CDNs, and caching layers function in a production environment.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing people, developing engineers, overseeing delivery processes, and navigating trade-offs under real-world constraints.

• Experience with high-traffic, multi-brand, or multi-tenant platforms.
• Practical experience with observability tools (such as OpenTelemetry, SigNoz, or similar) and RUM.
• Familiarity with Fastly or similar CDNs at the VCL/edge-logic level.
• SEO experience for large customer-facing websites, including rendering, crawlability, hreflang, and canonical strategies.
