Freelance DevOps Engineer, Google Cloud, DigitalOcean

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Oversee and implement DevOps tasks on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and DigitalOcean.

• Establish, enhance, and manage CI/CD pipelines, preferably utilizing GitLab CI/CD.

• Administer and optimize infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (including Compute Engine, Cloud Run, GKE – if applicable) and DigitalOcean (such as Droplets, Load Balancers, Spaces).

• Containerize applications utilizing Docker and oversee production deployments.

• Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform or similar tools for GCP and DigitalOcean.

• Set up and maintain development, staging, and production environments.

• Monitor system health, performance metrics, logs, and uptime.

• Diagnose and resolve deployment, performance, and infrastructure challenges.

• Enforce security best practices (including IAM, secrets management, SSL/TLS, and firewall configurations).

• Collaborate with developers to optimize build, test, and release processes.

• Ensure the scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of the infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a DevOps Engineer in freelance or contract roles.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Solid background in managing infrastructure on DigitalOcean.

• Strong proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, with a preference for GitLab CI/CD.

• Advanced understanding of Linux systems and server management.

• Significant experience with Docker and containerized deployments.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).

• Capability to work autonomously and complete tasks from start to finish.

• Excellent communication and remote collaboration abilities, working alongside a team consisting of 1 designer and 5 software engineers/developers.

• Nice to Have: Experience with Kubernetes (either GKE or DigitalOcean Kubernetes).

• Experience with Cloud Run or serverless solutions on GCP.

• Knowledge of monitoring tools (such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).

• Experience in optimizing cloud expenditures.

• Background in startup or SaaS product environments.
