Fraud Countermeasure Team Lead – Fraud Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead, expand, and nurture a Fraud Countermeasures team that rapidly delivers impactful fraud rules by fostering a culture of accountability, experimentation, and collaboration across functions.

• Convert raw threat intelligence into a targeted detection strategy, ensuring the team’s priorities align with the Fraud Platform’s key performance indicators.

• Take full ownership of the delivery process—plan sprints, eliminate obstacles, and assist the team in implementing countermeasures within hours rather than weeks, while providing clear updates to executives and the broader organization.

• Advocate for tooling and process enhancements—automate the ingestion of intelligence, testing of detections, and deployment of rules—enabling the team to scale quicker than the evolving fraud landscape.

• Collaborate with product, data science, and engineering partners to develop a long-term vision for proactive detection and motivate the team to pursue it autonomously.

• Play a role in reinforcing Veriff’s global stance on fraud risk.

• Promote a red-team mentality: treat each overlooked fraud incident as a controlled breach, and encourage cross-functional teams to investigate, replicate, and neutralize attacks more swiftly than they can proliferate.

• Support professional growth, foster a culture of feedback, and facilitate skill enhancement in line with our internal product management principles.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience leading operational teams combating online fraud at scale in fintech, identity verification, or related fields.

• Proficient in SQL; able to transform raw data into narratives of attacks and relevant metrics.

• Demonstrated capability to build, scale, retain, and motivate effective operations teams with a distinct sense of purpose and identity.

• A strategic thinker with a proven track record of aligning team activities with measurable business outcomes.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, facilitating alignment between technical and non-technical audiences.

• A strong passion for mentoring and fostering inclusive, high-performing team environments.

• A curious and tenacious approach to complexity, thriving on identifying root causes and seeking practical, sustainable solutions to significant challenges.
