This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Identify the ideal customer by researching and sourcing prospective clients that align with our ideal client profile (ICP) — including public relations directors, communications leaders, and marketing officers — utilizing external research and tools, then entering and prioritizing them in the CRM.
• Create and maintain target contacts, account lists, and deals in the CRM, ensuring records are accurate, deduplicated, and organized by segment and priority.
• Initiate outreach through email — craft, test, and refine multi-touch sequences using authentic copy that represents our voice and positioning, rather than relying on scripts.
• Oversee a CRM-driven cadence throughout a lengthy sales cycle, monitoring opens, replies, and the status of each prospect in the sales funnel.
• Customize outreach with timely hooks (such as news, funding rounds, leadership changes, and industry moments) instead of using generic templates.
• Qualify inbound responses and arrange discovery calls for the agency's principals.
• Maintain ongoing CRM hygiene — ensuring records are accurate, deduplicated, and up-to-date as prospects progress through the pipeline.
• Provide weekly reports on pipeline metrics: sends, opens, replies, meetings booked, and conversion rates by stage, including participation (virtually or in person) in a weekly sales meeting.
• Continuously enhance targeting criteria, subject lines, sequencing, and messaging based on performance analytics.
• Expertise in CRM systems — a top priority.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Sales Development Representative (SDR), business development, or growth marketing within a professional services or agency setting.
• Demonstrated success in researching and identifying suitable prospects and executing email outbound campaigns — rather than focusing on cold-call metrics.
• Strong writing skills; the ability to communicate in a personable manner rather than relying on templates.
• Comfortable with a lengthy, relationship-focused sales cycle and the ability to nurture prospects over months rather than days.
• Self-motivated — responsible for managing your own targeting, pipeline, and cadence with minimal supervision.
• Bonus: Experience in selling public relations, marketing, or communications services, or a solid understanding of how communications agencies acquire new business.
• Monthly retainer ranging from $1,500 to $2,000, based on hours worked.
• Performance bonuses for each new signed retainer client or project you bring in.
