Fractional Controller, FP&A Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Create a GAAP-compliant chart of accounts that reflects the actual operations of the business.

• Establish an accounting framework for analyzing profitability by search, client, and recruiter.

• Develop a cost allocation strategy for recruiter compensation, overhead, and shared expenses.

• Collaborate with the bookkeeper to define the monthly closing process and reporting schedule.

• Construct essential financial models, including: profitability analysis at the search and client levels, recruiter productivity and margin evaluations, cash flow projections, and scenarios for hiring and headcount impacts.

• Review the monthly closing reports prepared by the bookkeeping firm.

• Provide management reporting that delivers valuable insights beyond standard financial statements.

• Continuously maintain and revise forecasts and scenario models.

• Serve as a finance advisor for decisions related to hiring, growth, and cash management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Previous experience as a Controller, Senior Controller, or Finance Lead.

• Solid foundation in GAAP and accrual accounting principles.

• Proven experience in FP&A, including forecasting, scenario modeling, and variance analysis.

• Background in supporting professional services, recruiting, or project-oriented businesses.

• Demonstrated ability to create and sustain profitability models by client, project, or service line.

• Experience with cash flow and hiring forecasts that inform real decision-making.

• Proficient in working with QuickBooks or Xero data.

• Skill in converting financial data into clear, actionable insights for operational teams.
