This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as the primary finance business partner to functional leaders, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and variance analysis.
• Present financial analyses in a clear, operationally relevant manner, tailoring the message to suit the audience.
• Manage and sustain clinical trial financial models that include protocol design, CRO budgets, investigator grants, enrollment predictions, site activation timelines, and visit-based cost factors to aid in forecasting and scenario planning.
• Evaluate clinical trial expense variances against study operational metrics to pinpoint variance drivers.
• Create study-level financial summaries that reflect operational dynamics and convey the information effectively.
• Review and confirm clinical trial forecasts produced within Auxilius.
• Develop multi-year trackers for preclinical/discovery expenditures, including tracking milestone-based investments.
• Assess purchase requisitions and purchase orders for financial accuracy and adherence to standardized procure-to-pay processes.
• Collaborate with the Accounting team during month-end close and accruals, ensuring consistent account and department coding.
• Assist with automation initiatives aimed at enhancing forecasting precision, reporting efficiency, and data quality across FP&A processes.
• Cultivate trusted relationships with functional leaders and provide financial insights that aid in operational decision-making.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field in drug development.
• 5-7+ years of experience in the biopharma or life sciences sectors.
• Proven experience in developing clinical trial cost forecasting and financial models within a biopharma or life sciences environment.
• Highly collaborative, possessing exceptional consulting, project management, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Outstanding organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the capability to handle multiple priorities.
• Proactive and enthusiastic about creating processes and tools in an expanding biotech setting.
• Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex financial models and scenario analysis.
• Familiarity with NetSuite, Adaptive Planning, and purchase-to-pay systems or similar platforms.
• Proficient in developing presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
