This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the monthly variance report — Drive precise budget versus actual (BvA) analysis across Profit & Loss (P&L), Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), gross profit percentage, and operating expenses (OPEX), accompanied by clear narrative commentary that elucidates the reasons behind the numbers.
• Develop and sustain driver-based models — Focus on member growth, Average Revenue Per Member (ARPM), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), payback periods, contribution margins by program and member cohort, and clinical cost-to-serve.
• Collaborate with departmental leaders — Work closely with Customer Success, Clinical Operations, Marketing, and Sales to translate strategic business plans into resourced budgets, validate assumptions, and provide analytical support to department heads.
• Oversee the long-term planning and ongoing forecasting — Engage in multi-scenario budget modeling that is fully integrated with headcount planning, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis.
• Create the monthly board narrative — Prepare KPI summaries, P&L commentary, gross profit percentage trends, headcount data, and future outlooks in collaboration with senior leadership.
• Lead the 2026 budget cycle — Manage timelines, templates, business unit collaboration, and consolidation processes.
• Develop the operational FP&A toolkit — Create dashboards, what-if analysis tools, scenario models, and designs for sales/customer success commissions and incentives.
• Advocate for AI-enhanced FP&A processes — Employ Claude, AI-powered FP&A tools, and AI-native features within our finance stack and Excel to expedite model documentation, variance commentary, scenario summarization, and ad-hoc research. Set the standard for AI-augmented FP&A practices at 9amHealth.
• 5–8 years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) — Ideally within a high-growth healthcare, SaaS, or subscription-based organization.
• Comprehensive ownership of financial processes — You have independently managed a complete budget cycle, board package, and rolling forecast — not merely contributed segments.
• Proficiency in driver-based modeling — You can construct an accurate three-statement model from the ground up in Excel, with assumptions that are self-explanatory.
• Familiarity with modern FP&A platforms — Competent in modern FP&A tools such as Abacum, Pigment, Mosaic, Anaplan, Cube, or similar — comfortable with model design rather than just data entry.
• Strong instincts for business collaboration — You enhance the efficiency of department heads rather than hinder it. You can engage in straightforward commercial discussions with non-financial leaders.
• Understanding of unit economics — Proficient in ARR, ARPM, CAC, LTV, payback periods, and cohort retention; bonus if you have applied these frameworks to healthcare member economics.
• Genuine familiarity with AI — You utilize Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools daily to streamline modeling, create initial commentary drafts, develop internal automations, and critically evaluate your own reasoning.
• Data proficiency — Comfortable using BI tools like Looker/Tableau — capable of extracting your own data when necessary.
• Clear written and visual communication skills — Your presentations and memos convey a narrative. Your tables provide answers before questions arise.
• Player-coach mentality — Eager to engage hands-on in modeling tasks today while also strategizing for future quarters.
• Bonus points for:
• Experience in healthcare — such as pharmacy, membership care models, value-based care, and chronic condition management.
• Background in investment banking, transaction advisory, growth equity, or consulting.
• Experience preparing for a Series C or growth funding round.
• Experience implementing a new FP&A platform.
• Experience creating forecasts linked to a clinical operations model.
• Health, dental, and vision insurance.
• Flexible PTO and options for remote work.
• Budget for professional development and support for continuing education.
