Founding Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with power engineers and the U.S. go-to-market team to identify workflows, limitations, and high-impact tooling opportunities.

• Act as the main field customer and product collaborator for the development of tooling alongside the Product and Engineering teams.

• Test and utilize new FDE and AI tools in real work environments to assess their usefulness, accuracy, reliability, and overall fit.

• Transform field insights into requirements, priorities, and acceptance criteria.

• Analyze data, write Python and SQL scripts, create prototypes and integrations, troubleshoot workflows, and assist with high-priority customer tasks.

• Lead the implementation across the U.S. team, including onboarding, training, and providing support during actual engagements.

• Set operational standards, evaluate adoption and outcomes, and avoid reverting to outdated workflows.

• Establish quality benchmarks for AI-assisted tasks, human review protocols, and processes for documenting lessons learned and failure modes.

• Transform recurring field requirements into reusable workflows, product functionalities, and playbooks.

• Assist leadership in defining engagement criteria, decision-making authority, handoffs, and success metrics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building and delivering maintainable software within a product-engineering environment.

• Significant background in power or utility sectors; experience in power systems, utilities, grid technology, or related critical infrastructure is highly desirable.

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, APIs, data pipelines, cloud systems, and contemporary developer tools.

• Familiarity with modern data and AI workflows; experience with Databricks and AI-native developer or agentic tools is advantageous.

• Strong commitment to evaluation, security, and accuracy.

• Capability to identify root causes and differentiate between one-off requests and recurring needs.

• Excellent product judgment in converting technical user requirements into effective tools.

• Experience in promoting the adoption of tools or workflows with busy technical teams under the pressure of live delivery.

• Established credibility in complex enterprise settings and the ability to engage with engineers, utility leaders, and executives.

• High level of agency, humility, and sound judgment; able to lead without a formal hierarchy.

• Willingness to travel frequently and spend significant time with customers and the U.S. team.

• Previous experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, customer-embedded product engineer, or technical lead is beneficial but not mandatory.
