Founding Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• We are on the lookout for a Founding Software Engineer to take charge of the most vital technical areas of our platform: the payments pipeline (collections, revenue distribution, treasury functions), the billing engine (subscription management, cycle oversight, automated renewals), and the integration layer (BSS/OSS synchronization with partner systems).

• You will collaborate closely with the CTO and a small group of engineers to deploy production systems that manage actual financial transactions for genuine ISP partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in backend systems dealing with real financial transactions (payments, billing, ledger, or treasury).

• Extensive expertise in TypeScript/Node.js. You should be capable of designing a NestJS microservice from the ground up, rather than just working within an existing one.

• Proven experience with payment gateway integrations (M-Pesa, Stripe, Adyen, or similar). You comprehend STK push flows, webhook idempotency, callback signature verification, and reconciliation processes.

• Strong skills in PostgreSQL. You can design schemas for financial data, create migrations, and analyze transaction isolation and locking.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar). You understand the distinctions between request-reply and fire-and-forget patterns, and know when to apply each.

• You take initiative in shipping products. You can transform a specification document into production-ready code without waiting for someone to break it down into smaller tasks.

• We anticipate that every engineer at Share will incorporate AI tools into their daily workflow. This is not optional and is integral to our operations. Our entire project planning, specification, and documentation processes are facilitated through AI-assisted sessions. Our codebase includes AI-readable context files, and we utilize Claude for architectural decisions, code reviews, specification generation, and technical writing.

• You already leverage AI coding assistants (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) on a daily basis and can articulate how they enhance your workflow.

• You are comfortable working with AI-generated specifications and can critically assess them, challenge inaccuracies, and expand upon areas that are incomplete.

• You view AI as a catalyst that enables a small team to function at the capacity of a significantly larger one. You are not intimidated by it; you are empowered by it.

• You are eager to contribute to the enhancement of our AI-assisted workflows — improving prompts, refining context files, and optimizing session structures.
