This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for a child or youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Provide daily care, consistency, encouragement, and connection.
• Address the child’s physical, emotional, developmental, and social needs.
• Ensure regular school attendance and support the child's educational advancement.
• Organize and accompany the child to medical and dental appointments.
• Assist the child in navigating the emotions and adjustments related to foster care.
• Offer recreational, community, and enrichment opportunities.
• Keep accurate records, including developmental milestones and behavioral documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with Sample Supports, families, schools, clinicians, and other care professionals.
• Adhere to Colorado regulations and Sample Supports policies and procedures.
• Provide a separate bed and designated space for personal belongings.
• Address challenging behaviors and support daily living needs as appropriate.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have a suitable home environment with at least one available bedroom.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to safely transport a child.
• Must meet approved motor vehicle record standards.
• Successful completion of required Child/Adult Protection Services checks.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Comply with applicable Colorado foster care and agency requirements.
• Uphold confidentiality and adhere to Sample Supports policies and procedures.
• Must be patient, reliable, and emotionally stable.
• Show a caring attitude and dedication to helping children flourish.
• Willingness to learn about developmental disabilities, mental health, and trauma.
• Ability to respond to challenging behaviors in a calm and supportive manner.
• Willing to work collaboratively with families, schools, clinicians, and agency professionals.
• Organized and capable of maintaining required documentation.
• Committed to fostering a safe, welcoming, and consistent home environment.
• Must complete the Culture Index Survey.
