Foster Parent

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Welcome a child or youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities into your home.

• Create a safe, stable, nurturing, and comfortable environment.

• Provide daily care, consistency, encouragement, and connection.

• Address physical, emotional, developmental, and social needs.

• Ensure regular school attendance and support educational advancement.

• Organize and attend medical and dental appointments.

• Assist the child in managing emotions and adjustments related to foster care.

• Offer recreational, community, and enrichment opportunities.

• Keep required records, including developmental milestones and behavioral documentation.

• Collaborate with Sample Supports, families, educational institutions, clinicians, and other care professionals.

• Adhere to Colorado regulations and Sample Supports policies and procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• A compassionate, stable, and dedicated individual or family.

• High school diploma or GED required.

• A suitable home environment with at least one available bedroom.

• Reliable transportation and the ability to safely transport a child.

• Meet approved motor vehicle record standards.

• Successfully pass necessary Child/Adult Protection Services checks.

• Complete a criminal background check.

• Fulfill applicable Colorado foster care and agency requirements.

• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Sample Supports policies and procedures.

• Be patient, dependable, and emotionally stable.

• Possess a caring attitude and commitment to helping children thrive.

• Willingness to learn about developmental disabilities, mental health, and trauma.

• Ability to respond calmly and supportively to challenging behaviors.

• Openness to collaborating with families, schools, clinicians, and agency professionals.

• Organized and capable of maintaining necessary documentation.

• Dedication to creating a safe, welcoming, and consistent home environment.

• Completion of the Culture Index Survey is required.
