This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
β’ Execute comprehensive technical assessments in chosen strategic accounts to evaluate platform readiness, identify constraints, and uncover significant adoption opportunities within GitLab and the GitLab Duo Agent Platform.
β’ Direct the architecture and delivery design for intricate enterprise environments where platform migration, regulatory requirements, and product boundaries converge.
β’ Collaborate with customer stakeholders and GitLab account teams to prioritize use cases based on their business impact, technical feasibility, repeatability, and long-term platform value.
β’ Create and develop bounded proofs, prototypes, deployment patterns, and reusable accelerators covering source code management, CI/CD, security, compliance, and AI-enabled workflows.
β’ Design architectures for self-managed and enterprise deployments, including runners, access controls, network boundaries, observability, AI Gateway, model connectivity, and governance controls.
β’ Transform recurring field patterns into reusable resources such as runbooks, templates, design notes, technical guidance, product briefs, and reference architectures applicable across accounts.
β’ Contribute code, technical designs, or architecture modifications when strategically necessary, in collaboration with product and engineering teams, to address upstream blockers.
β’ Travel as needed for strategic customer interactions, architecture workshops, and team coordination, with anticipated travel up to 50%.
β’ Proven experience in software engineering, platform architecture, forward deployed engineering, technical consulting, or other similar customer-facing engineering roles.
β’ Solid software engineering fundamentals, including the capability to read, reason about, and contribute to production systems, preferably with experience in Ruby on Rails and/or Go.
β’ Strong skills in systems design and software architecture, with experience in evaluating APIs, asynchronous workflows, CI/CD systems, security boundaries, scalability, and operational trade-offs.
β’ Practical experience with GitLab CI/CD, pipeline design, YAML, runners, and GitLab APIs.
β’ Experience with infrastructure as code and enterprise deployment tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or similar methodologies.
β’ Familiarity with large language models, agentic patterns, tool orchestration, and the practical limitations of AI systems in production settings.
β’ A proven history of creating reusable technical assets that extend beyond a single engagement, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills for providing technical design and architecture guidance.
β’ Comfort in leading discussions with senior stakeholders across security, compliance, engineering, platform, and business teams, particularly in ambiguous enterprise environments.
