Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and execution of new features in our primary SaaS product.

• Engage with the entire stack, enhancing database queries and API endpoints while designing user-friendly UI/UX.

• Develop production-ready integrations and workflows.

• Conduct technical workshops with stakeholders to outline 'future state' solutions.

• Produce high-quality, type-safe, and maintainable code in TypeScript, utilizing modern React and Next.js patterns for optimal performance and scalability.

• Avoid unnecessary 'bespoke bloat.'

• Recognize universal customer needs and work alongside product and engineering teams to incorporate those into the core technical strategy.

• Contribute to CI/CD, testing, and performance monitoring to guarantee the stability and reliability of your deployments.

• Mentor fellow teammates and establish engineering best practices to enhance the overall team output.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional experience in full-stack or frontend development, particularly within SaaS products or startup settings.

• Proficient coder with demonstrated expertise in TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Java, C++, or similar languages.

• Practical experience with Next.js App Router (server components, layouts, streaming, caching).

• Familiarity with tRPC or similar type-safe API frameworks.

• Experience in implementing complex, data-rich views using Tailwind and component libraries (shadcn/ui, Mantine, etc.).

• Prior background in UI/UX design or close collaboration with designers is highly favorable.

• Capability to design scalable systems and a strong grasp of frontend performance, state management, and accessibility.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work independently, acting as a consultant/partner to our customers while being accountable for deliverables.

• Willingness and interest to travel up to 20% as necessary to customer locations.
