Forward Deployed AI Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Undergo training and shadowing for approximately the initial month.

• Collaborate with a Makai lead to manage one workflow from start to finish before transitioning to more independent work.

• Conduct interviews with client Subject Matter Experts to understand current work processes.

• Review source documents and outline the systems involved.

• Identify workflows that have the potential for automation.

• Suggest automation possibilities and draft specifications in collaboration with client teams.

• Develop AI-agent prototypes using Makai's platform, with assistance from Makai engineers.

• Evaluate prototypes with client practitioners.

• Implement rollouts and assess productivity and ROI.

• Identify ineffective approaches and prioritize efforts accordingly.

• Advance towards tracks in AI engineering, product and implementation, or engagement leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates in the early stages of their careers, including seniors, recent graduates, or those with similar early-career experience.

• Proven ability to take ownership in both academic and extracurricular settings.

• Experience in product development, tool creation, modeling, startups, research systems, or leading teams, clubs, labs, athletic groups, events, or high-pressure projects; or successfully transforming a challenging internship project into a useful outcome.

• Proficiency in programming or data-analysis languages such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, or others.

• Understanding of APIs, workflow automation, backend services, internal tools, or scripting.

• Familiarity with LLMs, retrieval systems, agents, structured outputs, prompt design, or AI evaluation techniques.

• Experience in data analysis, spreadsheets, dashboards, process mining, or financial/operational modeling.

• Knowledge of product specifications, user stories, QA testing, Jira, Azure DevOps, or agile delivery methodologies.

• Background in research, internships, startups, team leadership, athletics, or other high-responsibility roles.

• Preference for candidates with availability during Eastern Time hours.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based.
