Forensic Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough root cause analysis for identified coding opportunities in both front and/or back end as assigned.

• Lead or support projects aimed at improving opportunities as assigned.

• Research and offer coding guidance for new client service lines and services.

• Ensure adherence to established corporate and departmental policies and procedures.

• Retain knowledge of workflows and processes in each functional area of coding.

• Provide assistance with provider education and develop educational materials.

• Communicate professionally with physicians, management, and colleagues.

• Engage in all educational activities, including coding meetings and calls.

• Stay updated on changes to current payer guidelines and maintain accuracy in coding.

• Assist in the training of other coders.

• Show initiative in learning new skills and a willingness to participate and share expertise on various projects.

• Exhibit personal accountability for job performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of coding experience is required, with 5 years preferred.

• Extensive knowledge and experience in both physician front end and back end coding.

• Expert-level knowledge in various coding specialties.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Familiarity with Medical Terminology, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.

• Proficient in PC and computer application knowledge and experience.

• Basic functional expertise in Microsoft business software and navigational skills.

• Excellent organizational, communication, time management, financial analysis, written policy, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to prioritize needs and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Mobile phone access with sufficient data.

• Experience with EPIC and prior use of coding software tools.

• Dual Certification is required.

• Must be curious and exhibit a willingness to embrace innovation, including AI.
