Forensic Mechanical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Examine the causes and origins of failures, damages, or defects in mechanical systems and components across industrial, commercial, and residential locations.

• Assess mechanical system failures, identify the reasons behind these failures, evaluate construction quality, and review design and maintenance protocols.

• Conduct field investigations, oversee multi-party examinations, and document the condition of damaged properties.

• Investigate failure modes and code requirements, and offer recommendations for repairs or replacements as necessary.

• Generate precise, clear, comprehensive, and succinct reports and related documentation for clients outlining opinions and conclusions.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on large and intricate projects.

• Sustain established relationships with existing clients and consultants.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• A minimum of 3–5 years of mechanical engineering experience in insurance or legal forensics.

• Residency in the Midwest region of the United States is mandatory.

• Active Professional Engineering (PE) license; at least the minimum required for the resident state.

• Willingness to engage in expert witness work and provide testimony in court.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal abilities.

• Proficient in computer applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• A commitment to learning, excelling, and advancing within the profession and our organization.

• Willingness to travel, with the ability to accommodate approximately 30–50% travel.
