Forensic Mechanical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Examine the causes and origins of failures, damages, or defects in mechanical systems and components across industrial, commercial, and residential locations.

• Assess the malfunctioning of mechanical systems, identify failure causes, evaluate construction quality, and review design and maintenance protocols.

• Conduct field investigations, spearhead multi-party examinations, and document damaged properties.

• Investigate failure modes, understand code requirements, and offer recommendations for necessary repairs and/or replacements.

• Create precise, clear, comprehensive, and concise reports and related documents for clients that outline opinions and conclusions.

• Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams on extensive and complex projects.

• Foster and maintain established relationships with existing clients and consultants.

• Stay informed about company policies, procedures, and practices; engage in continuous training and development as assigned or approved to ensure knowledge and skills remain current and thorough.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the insurance or legal forensics sector.

• Residency in the Midwest region of the United States is mandatory.

• An active Professional Engineering (PE) license is required; the minimum requirement is the license from the resident state.

• Willingness to engage in expert witness work and provide court testimony.

• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• A strong desire to learn, excel, and grow with the company and within the profession.

• Must be adaptable to travel and capable of accommodating approximately 30–50% travel.
