This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and compliant manner.
• Conducts pre-flight checks prior to each flight, ensuring the aircraft is in an airworthy state by signing off the Daily Flight Log.
• Pilots are required to perform a thorough walk-around inspection of the aircraft before accessing the cockpit for flight and after completing each flight.
• Holds final authority regarding aircraft operations and is responsible for the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.
• Must possess comprehensive knowledge of all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft used in the operational area, and ensure that the medical flight team is well-acquainted and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.
• Responsible for the accurate completion of necessary documentation.
• Capable of executing detailed flight planning on short notice to high standards.
• Actively participates in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach initiatives.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with two to five years of relevant experience and/or training; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Pilots must have flown in the specified category within the last 24 months.
• Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Program: 2500 total flight hours with a minimum of 2000 flight hours in the specified category.
• 1000 hours of Pilot In Command (PIC) time in the specified category.
• 500 hours of cross-country flight time, including at least 50 hours at night.
• 500 hours of turbine flight time.
• 100 hours of night flight time.
• 100 hours of flight experience in actual instrument conditions in the specified category.
• Instrument rating for the specified category and class of aircraft (ATP rating in the category fulfills this requirement).
• A fixed-wing multiengine rating is required for twin-engine aircraft.
• A commercial single-engine land rating is required for single-engine aircraft.
• First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate is mandatory.
