This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee cloud expenditures and ensure that costs stay within the designated budget
• Notify stakeholders about anomalies or new costs and project future cloud spending
• Manage committed use discounts (CUDs) and/or reservations when applicable
• Analyze service consumption and suggest or implement cost-saving measures
• Research vendor technologies and tools to enhance application performance
• Generate reports for Finance and engineering teams
• Establish alerts and monitor consumption for quota-based vendors
• Ensure that services and applications are consistently tagged for accurate reporting
• Collaborate with high-consumption teams to minimize wasteful spending caused by inefficiencies, errors, or misunderstandings
• Enforce minimum tagging and labeling standards
• Adjust consumption for quota-based vendors to prevent exceeding contract limits
• Create and review dashboards while analyzing usage trends
• Investigate any unusual changes in spending and clarify service cost impacts to engineering teams
• Assist in forecasting, maintain alerts and reports, and enhance cost allocation precision
• Work alongside Engineering, Finance, and vendor owners to boost cost visibility and accountability
• Comprehensive understanding of cloud architecture and infrastructure services
• Proven experience in managing Kubernetes clusters
• Background in development, including scripting or creating automation tools for reporting, alerting, or cloud operations workflows
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform
• Experience in cloud cost management or FinOps practices (preferred)
• Knowledge of AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Billing, BigQuery, Grafana, or other reporting and observability tools (preferred)
• Experience in creating dashboards, reports, or automated alerts for both technical and financial stakeholders (preferred)
• Understanding of tagging or labeling strategies, chargeback or showback models, and cloud governance standards (preferred)
• Familiarity with vendor quota management, contracts, reservations, committed use discounts, or savings plans (preferred)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate cloud cost drivers to engineering teams, Finance, and leadership (preferred)
• Analytical mindset, proactive approach, and comfortable collaborating across engineering and finance
• Capability to investigate ambiguous cost changes, communicate findings effectively, and follow through on resolving waste or reporting discrepancies
• Annualized base salary of $110,000–$120,000
• Variable compensation may be applicable
