Financial Operations Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Execute daily, weekly, and monthly Financial Operations duties, which encompass reconciliations, transaction monitoring, cash movement assessments, operational reporting, and support for fund operations.

• Assist in fund accounting and investment operations tasks, including handling deposits, withdrawals, subscriptions, redemptions, returned items, reviewing account activity, and updating balances.

• Analyze and address operational discrepancies, data inconsistencies, failed transactions, returned items, reconciliation challenges, and other exceptions promptly and systematically.

• Recognize, challenge, and enhance manual workflows by creating effective automation solutions that minimize repetitive tasks, enhance accuracy, and reinforce operational controls.

• Take ownership of automation initiatives from identifying problems to mapping workflows, building, testing, documenting, and ongoing enhancements.

• Develop and sustain Excel-based and code-assisted operational tools, which include advanced spreadsheets, VBA/macros, Python scripts, templates, and recurring reporting files.

• Incorporate AI tools as a standard aspect of daily activities, including research, analysis, coding assistance, reconciliation reviews, documentation, testing, workflow redesign, and process enhancements.

• Record workflows, process logic, exceptions, controls, and runbooks to ensure operational procedures are repeatable, scalable, and less reliant on individual knowledge.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Finance, and external vendors to advance operational priorities and facilitate automation and systems-improvement efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–4+ years of experience in financial operations, fund operations, fund accounting, investment operations, brokerage operations, automation, business systems, or a related finance/operations field.

• Proficient in Excel, including advanced formulas, data analysis, reconciliations, and experience in building or managing Excel macros/VBA-enabled files.

• Familiarity with automation and coding, preferably including VBA and Python.

• Hands-on experience with AI tools, copilots, or agent-based workflows to enhance analysis, coding, testing, documentation, reconciliation reviews, or process improvements.

• Demonstrated examples of tools, scripts, macros, automations, or AI-supported workflows you have created, refined, or utilized to decrease manual workload.

• Knowledge of fund accounting principles, investment transactions, reconciliations, cash movements, subscriptions, redemptions, returned items, and client account activity.

• Strong attention to detail, analytical abilities, and a capacity to investigate and resolve operational breaks, discrepancies, and data quality concerns.

• High sense of ownership with excellent follow-through, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision in uncertain or changing environments.

• Low tolerance for repetitive manual tasks and a proactive approach to questioning inefficient processes.

• Strong curiosity, rapid learning capabilities, and a commitment to continuously enhancing workflow through automation, documentation, AI tools, and improved controls.

• Clear communication skills with the ability to work efficiently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
