📋 Description

• Take full ownership of Acely’s finance function from start to finish, encompassing FP&A, financial reporting, accounting oversight, compliance, cash management, and board reporting.

• Maintain consistency and rigor in existing finance processes while enhancing speed, clarity, accuracy, and strategic significance.

• Develop and refine the company’s operating model, which includes revenue forecasting, expense planning, headcount planning, cash projections, and scenario analysis.

• Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team on strategic planning, resource allocation, growth investments, pricing strategies, unit economics, and company-wide operational priorities.

• Manage financial reporting and monthly closing processes in conjunction with external accounting resources, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper internal controls.

• Lead the budgeting and forecasting cycles, converting company strategy into actionable financial plans.

• Work closely with Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Customer Support to link financial outcomes with operational drivers.

• Evaluate growth performance across various channels and customer segments, assisting the team in understanding successful strategies, investment opportunities, and areas to reduce spending.

• Facilitate board reporting by generating clear, concise, insight-driven financial updates and strategic analyses.

• Manage vendor relationships, support contract reviews, enforce expense controls, and maintain purchasing discipline.

• Oversee compliance requirements, tax coordination, state registrations, insurance, and other finance-related operational needs.

• Aid in preparing the company for potential future financing discussions, strategic partnerships, and due diligence processes.

• Utilize modern tools, automation, and AI-native workflows to enhance reporting, analysis, forecasting, and operational finance.


⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of finance experience, preferably in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, growth equity, venture-backed startups, or high-growth consumer subscription businesses.

• Strong strategic finance capabilities, with the proficiency to connect financial analysis to company strategy and operational decisions.

• Proven track record of managing financial models, forecasts, budgets, and scenario planning.

• In-depth knowledge of SaaS or consumer subscription metrics, including ARR, retention, CAC, LTV, ROAS, payback, gross margin, burn, runway, and cash conversion.

• Comfortable taking charge of financial reporting and accounting oversight, even when supported by external accounting partners.

• Strong analytical judgment: capable of navigating ambiguity, identifying key insights, and translating data into clear recommendations.

• Exceptional communication skills, able to effectively present financial concepts to executives, investors, and cross-functional partners.

• High level of ownership and meticulous attention to detail: deeply committed to accuracy while also knowing how to act swiftly.

• Able to thrive in a lean startup environment, balancing strategic insight with hands-on involvement.

• Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity across growth, product, pricing, operations, and overall company strategy.

• Low ego, high integrity, and driven to contribute to a meaningful mission.

• A collaborative team player who works effectively with cross-functional partners.

• **Not required, but a strong plus:**

• Experience in consumer subscription, edtech, marketplace, or prosumer sectors.

• Background supporting a venture-backed company through fundraising, strategic processes, or board-heavy operational rhythms.

• Familiarity with paid acquisition economics and performance marketing analysis.

• Experience developing AI-enabled workflows for reporting, analysis, forecasting, or finance operations.
