This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• The Financial Manager will oversee and enhance the financial control team for the Americas region, ensuring the execution of the key responsibilities outlined below:
• Regulatory reporting: Spearhead the timely creation of statutory financial statements for each entity following local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (local GAAP), guaranteeing complete accuracy and integrity.
• Management reporting: Assist Finance leadership in the Americas with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual actuals for regional management accounts.
• GAAP conversion: Administer reconciliations and conversions between Group GAAP (IFRS) and local GAAP.
• Financial integrity: Direct assurance initiatives to verify the accuracy of financial statements, which includes periodic control testing and thorough balance sheet documentation.
• SSC governance: Supervise reconciliations of balance sheets generated by the Shared Services Center (SSC) and manage any necessary corrections.
• Cash management: Lead cash-flow forecasting and oversee working capital objectives (days sales outstanding) in collaboration with divisional teams and the SSC to enhance cash conversion.
• Technical expertise: Offer regional finance expertise to ensure adherence to global policies and established procedures.
• Tax and audit: Collaborate with the tax team to prepare VAT/sales tax and corporate tax filings (such as Form 1099 and other regulatory submissions), while managing relationships with both internal and external auditors.
• Performance analysis: Execute ad hoc trend and variance analyses to furnish Finance leadership with actionable insights that aid in decision-making.
• Partnership with SSC team leads: Stabilize and enhance established Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Order-to-Cash (O2C) processes.
• Service optimization: Oversee SSC service delivery, address escalations, and pinpoint opportunities for ongoing process enhancement.
• Finance excellence: Contribute to regional growth and standardization initiatives, ensuring local and regulatory requirements are integrated into new system and process designs.
• Entity rationalization: Engage in strategic projects aimed at simplifying the regional legal entity structure and managing subsequent rationalization efforts.
• People leadership: Provide daily supervision and mentorship to the team, reviewing outputs to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
• Best practices: Work collaboratively with the Americas team to share improvements and foster a finance excellence mindset.
• Strategic alignment: Serve as a trusted partner within the global Finance team to create value, manage risks, and facilitate business growth.
• Professional designation: CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) or an equivalent designation is required.
• Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in global finance positions, including proven capabilities in managing and developing direct reports.
• Technical knowledge: Strong comprehension of financial control processes and internal controls, with the capacity to work with both local GAAP and IFRS.
• Audit and compliance expertise: Proven experience in preparing regulatory filings and fulfilling tax obligations (e.g., GST/HST, Form 1099), while maintaining positive relationships with external auditors and tax authorities.
• Change leadership: Demonstrated confidence in leading process and system transitions, and driving enthusiastic adoption of finance excellence workflows among finance and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Operational excellence: A proactive approach to managing SSC relationships and the ability to troubleshoot issues and resolve complex accounting challenges at their source.
