• Act as a change agent and take on a leadership role to enhance the overall operations and culture of accountability, promoting our core values and standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team: instilling accountability, meeting deadlines, and driving continuous improvement throughout the finance function.
• Assist in preparing updates for company board meetings as needed.
• Oversee the monthly closing processes within Sage Intacct, which includes journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Ensure that financial results are accurate, comprehensive, and delivered promptly.
• Manage audit activities, including preparing audit schedules and coordinating with external auditors.
• Collaborate with the CFO to manage accounting and corporate taxation for all global entities, covering transfer pricing and sales tax remittances.
• Take ownership of SaaS revenue recognition by reviewing billing operations, including monthly, annual, and multi-year subscription invoicing.
• Guarantee accurate revenue recognition in line with Company policies, which involves contract review, performance obligations, and deferred revenue tracking.
• Collaborate with Sales, Client Success, and Legal teams on contract terms that influence billings, revenue, renewals, and amendments.
• Promote ongoing automation and enhancement of customer billing and order-to-cash processes.
• Supervise the preparation of cash activities, including bank reconciliations, receipts, and disbursements.
• Manage the preparation of short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts within a multi-currency context to aid liquidity planning.
• Monitor working capital, which includes collections, deferred revenue, and vendor payment schedules.
• Oversee banking relationships and treasury controls.
• Manage payroll processing in collaboration with HR and external payroll providers across various regions.
• Ensure accurate accounting for payroll, commissions, bonuses, benefits, and related accruals.
• Support payroll automation efforts and ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
• Maintain and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, and supporting documentation.
• Facilitate the optimization and scaling of Sage Intacct, billing tools, and reporting processes.
• Implement AI in finance workflows (closing, reconciliations, flux/variance analysis, FP&A, billing/revenue operations) to minimize manual effort and enhance accuracy.
• Exhibit a strong command of data modeling and reporting, KPI design, and the creation of 'single source of truth' datasets for finance, including trend analysis and drivers of MRR/ARR, churn, cash, and margin.
• Serve as a finance partner to departmental leaders, offering insights into expenses, variances, and trends.
• Assist leadership with financial analysis related to bookings, revenue, margins, and operating performance.
• Engage with external stakeholders such as auditors, banks, brokers, and professional advisors.
• Provide support for ad hoc analysis, special projects, and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline; CPA or equivalent designation is preferred but not mandatory.
• Over 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, ideally within a SaaS or subscription-based environment.
• Previous experience as a Controller for a rapidly growing private equity-backed organization, preferably in the enterprise software or SaaS sector.
• Strong understanding of ASPE and US GAAP.
• Practical experience with Sage Intacct or similar mid-market ERP systems.
• Experience in supporting SaaS billing, deferred revenue, and contract accounting.
• Proficient Excel skills and comfortable working with detailed data and reconciliations.
