This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Oversee daily bookkeeping and accounting functions across various entities.
• Ensure accurate maintenance of general ledger records and chart of accounts.
• Conduct reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare journal entries and lead the month-end closing processes.
• Generate financial reports and operational analyses for leadership.
• Maintain and audit financial documentation within QuickBooks Online.
• Monitor customer balances, manage collections, and track open invoices.
• Oversee commissions and handle partner-related accounting tasks.
• Proactively identify discrepancies and resolve any accounting issues.
• Enhance accounting systems, workflows, and internal controls.
• Develop and sustain SOPs and process documentation for the finance department.
• QuickBooks Online (5+ years required): A minimum of 5 years of active experience managing full accounting cycles in QuickBooks Online is required. Simply listing QBO as a skill without demonstrated ongoing use will not suffice.
• Accounting Experience (5+ years): At least 5 years of hands-on, full-cycle accounting experience is necessary. This must include daily bookkeeping, general ledger management, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and ownership of month-end closings. Experience primarily in FP&A, audit, advisory, or strategic finance does not qualify.
• Controller or Senior Accounting Title: Candidates must have held a title such as Controller, Contralora, Contadora General, or an equivalent senior accounting title in a previous or current role. Those with recent titles such as CFO, VP of Finance, or Finance Director will not be considered, as this position focuses on execution rather than strategy.
• Multi-Entity Experience: Proven experience managing accounting for 3 or more legal entities concurrently, including separate GL records, reconciliations, and financial statements for each entity.
• Advanced English (B2 minimum, C1 preferred): Candidates must possess the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with U.S.-based leadership without the need for translation support. A minimum of B2 is required, with C1 strongly preferred. Self-rated “intermediate” does not qualify.
• Remote U.S. Work Experience: Must have served as the accounting owner for a U.S. company or U.S.-based client, not just having incidental exposure to U.S. teams.
• Accrual Accounting: Strong knowledge of accrual accounting practices, including revenue recognition, prepaid amortization, depreciation, and period-end adjustments.
• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets: Proficient in advanced Excel or Google Sheets, including skills in pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
