Financial Clearance Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Consistently upholds the Patients First philosophy and maintains high standards of customer service.

• Safeguards patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

• Delivers outstanding customer service to consumers, creating a favorable first impression of Northwestern Medicine.

• Accurately identifies and gathers patient demographic information following organizational standards.

• Oversees the flow of patient information through the revenue cycle during admission/registration and scheduled surgeries.

• Facilitates the pre-authorization process for diagnostic exams between referring physicians and insurance providers.

• Ensures that all admissions and scheduled surgeries receive financial clearance to maximize and expedite reimbursement for the hospital.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification.

• 2-3 years of prior experience in hospital billing, insurance follow-up, or customer service within a hospital environment.

• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.

• Proficient in computer data entry and typing.

• Capable of reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.

• Basic computer skills are required.

• Ability to type at a speed of 40 words per minute.

• Competence in multi-tasking.

• Strong customer service orientation.

• Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
