• Conducts both scheduling and registration tasks with patients in a single call for their upcoming visits.
• Ensures timely scheduling while providing callers with essential information pertinent to their appointments (such as preparation details for tests, directions, order management, etc.).
• Financial Clearance: responsible for verifying patient demographics, insurance details, and securing payment for the patient's financial obligations, including collection efforts.
• If designated for Order Management: confirms that the order is complete and aligns with the scheduled procedure, which includes indexing and exporting physician orders to the appropriate account number.
• Collects and verifies necessary patient demographic and financial information, determining the patient's financial responsibility and securing pre-payment for future services, along with collection efforts.
• Establishes a comprehensive pre-registration account for upcoming inpatient or surgical admissions.
• Completes all pre-certification prerequisites by obtaining authorization from the insurer and/or healthcare facility.
• Performs additional duties as assigned based on the needs of the department.
• Required: High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred: More than two years of college education (two years in a professional, customer service-focused environment may substitute for two years of college) and completion of a related medical certification program.
• Preferred: Experience in a telephone or call center environment.
• Preferred: Background in pre-registration and/or scheduling.
• Preferred: 2-3 years of experience in customer service.
