Financial Aid Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Deliver telephone-based financial aid assistance and counseling services to students enrolled at the American Public University System.

• Engage in inbound phone conversations to guide and inform students regarding Federal Student Aid.

• Ensure students receive the necessary funding to enroll in courses and achieve their degree goals.

• Address issues and utilize basic mathematics to examine financial aid package details for accurate processing.

• Conduct real-time research on financial aid and student databases to support students and parents throughout the financial aid process.

• Fulfill daily responsibilities in line with established Service Level Agreements while adjusting to staffing and business requirements.

• Meet departmental quality and productivity standards.

• Collaborate with Admissions, Advising & Student Support, and other University departments as necessary.

• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of University offerings and services.

• Comply with laws, regulations, policies, procedures, compliance standards, and current industry practices.

• Perform additional tasks as directed, requested, or assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1-2 years of proven customer service experience.

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

• An Associate's degree is required.

• A solutions-oriented mindset with demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

• High standard of telephone etiquette and professionalism.

• Basic mathematical abilities.

• General proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

• Must be eligible to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), which includes not having defaulted on any student loans.
