Financial Aid Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Offer phone-based financial aid support and counseling to students enrolled at American Public University or American Military University.

• Engage in inbound conversations to advise and educate students regarding Federal Student Aid.

• Ensure students receive appropriate funding to enroll in courses and achieve degree completion.

• Analyze financial aid package details using basic mathematical skills to ensure accurate processing.

• Investigate financial aid and student databases in real-time to assist students and their families throughout the financial aid process.

• Fulfill daily responsibilities within set Service Level Agreements while adapting to staffing and business requirements.

• Achieve department quality and productivity standards.

• Collaborate with Admissions, Advising, and Student Support departments as necessary.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of University products and services.

• Support the organization’s dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

• Carry out additional duties as directed, requested, or assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1-2 years of proven customer service experience.

• An Associate's degree is required.

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

• A solutions-oriented mindset with demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple demands with minimal supervision.

• High level of telephone etiquette and professionalism.

• Basic mathematical skills.

• General proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

• Maintains eligibility to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), including no past or current student loan defaults.

• Ability to comprehend and comply with laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
