Financial Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Accountable for month-end accounting tasks adhering to strict deadlines.

• Review the work performed by your team regarding month-end balance sheet reconciliations for Sophos Ireland and Sweden.

• Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual variances against the Plan and Forecast, investigating and clearly articulating significant cost variances to the EMEA North Financial Accountant.

• Take charge and conduct the initial review of all balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely monthly submission.

• Utilize OneStream fully for balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly local variance commentary.

• Contribute to the development of OneStream task manager specific to tasks for Sophos Ireland and Sweden.

• Prepare annual statutory reporting requirements.

• Lead the annual audit for the Irish and Swedish legal entities in collaboration with team members and assist in preparing Sophos Limited Statutory accounts.

• Oversee all tax compliance activities, including VAT, WHT, indirect and corporate income tax returns, ensuring that filing and payment deadlines are adhered to, and all tax questionnaires are accurately completed and submitted on time for the Irish and Swedish entities.

• Coordinate and prepare detailed monthly cash flow forecasts and reports for the Irish and Swedish entities for inclusion in the Group forecast, ensuring adherence to corporate treasury policy.

• Prepare and review corporation tax pack analysis in alignment with Group requirements.

• Develop and manage a timetable detailing tasks for monthly activities to ensure a smooth and timely close.

• Ensure that accounting and reporting activities are documented in a fully maintained procedure manual that is continuously updated.

• Ensure compliance with all internal policies and controls (e.g., expenses, travel policies, etc.), providing review and approval.

• Collaborate closely with global centralized teams to ensure efficient outputs.

• Responsible for submitting data to the Office for National Statistics.

• Compile data for the annual R&D Expenditure Credit and serve as the primary contact for any finance-related queries regarding the submission.

⛳️ Requirements

• Knowledge of accounting practices and standards under IFRS and Local GAAP.

• Experience working with external auditors, tax advisors, and local consultants.

• Practical experience in all aspects of month-end and annual closing accounting.

• Ability to work within a highly sales-driven and fast-paced environment.

• Desirable: Experience in improving processes and controls.

• Desirable: Background in a software company, preferably a global organization supporting global initiatives.

• Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in the industry.

• Familiarity with SAP.

• Knowledge of local taxation filing requirements for Irish and Swedish entities.

• Experience with planning processes and budget setting.
