This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of and manage Step's comprehensive financial model.
• Offer expert advice, recommendations, and influence to leaders in product, marketing, credit, and go-to-market regarding financial strategy, investments, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate across functions to conduct analysis, develop financial models, and advise on business decisions in various areas.
• Prepare and present clear, concise, and insightful financial reports, analyses, and forecasts.
• Work alongside accounting counterparts and other members of the finance team as it expands.
• Develop and implement reporting dashboards and scorecards to monitor key operational and financial metrics.
• Create and design AI-enhanced forecasting and analysis workflows.
• Oversee essential financial planning processes, which include monthly business reviews, the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and long-term strategic planning.
• 5-8+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, or management consulting, including operational experience at a high-growth technology or fintech firm.
• Proficient in advanced financial modeling, with significant experience in creating integrated operating models from the ground up.
• A strong emphasis on accuracy — you ensure your numbers align, validate your outputs, and construct models and analyses that executives can rely on without needing to recheck.
• Practical experience integrating AI into your workflow.
• Proven capability to take full ownership of a workstream and independently drive it from inquiry to decision, with minimal supervision.
• The discernment and confidence to form and defend an opinion, while remaining open to revision as the analysis progresses.
• Ability to impose structure on ambiguous problems and excel in a fast-paced, unstructured environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex analyses for non-finance audiences and executives.
