This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee finance operations, including the evaluation of payment requests and the distribution of payments.
• Manage Mercury and credit card transactions, ensuring adherence to expense policies.
• Monitor and assist various sub-budgets, such as team budgets and restricted grant budgets.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks Online.
• Collaborate with external accountants and handle client invoicing.
• Prepare for and facilitate the annual audit process.
• Own the financial Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and accounting policies, while supporting internal controls.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance operations within a complex non-profit environment.
• Strong grasp of non-profit and multi-entity accounting, including knowledge of restricted funds and GAAP compliance.
• Proficient in bookkeeping and accounting, with practical experience using QuickBooks.
• Ability to take initiative and operate with a high degree of autonomy.
• Familiarity with AI tools and automation, along with a passion for optimizing financial processes.
• Advanced expertise in Excel and Google Sheets.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to navigate uncertainty and ambiguity.
• Genuine interest in and understanding of Epoch AI's mission.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting or preparing for a non-profit audit and Form 990.
• For Manager level: 3+ years of relevant experience, including end-to-end management of recurring close cycles.
• For Manager level: Experience collaborating directly with external auditors and overseeing accounting/bookkeeping services.
• Preferred: Experience in implementing or migrating accounting software platforms for Manager level roles.
