This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take ownership of the complete payroll accounting process, which includes the preparation, review, and posting of monthly payroll journals across all entities.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to payroll, encompassing wages, pensions, bonuses, benefits, and accrued payroll costs.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities concerning payroll and employee expenses.
• Investigate and address payroll variances and accounting discrepancies.
• Collaborate closely with payroll providers and internal stakeholders to ensure precise payroll reporting.
• Maintain comprehensive audit trails and supporting documentation for payroll transactions.
• Aid in budgeting and forecasting processes for salary, bonus, and benefit costs.
• Generate monthly analyses and reports on people-related expenditures.
• Manage payroll, benefits, and HR-related cost allocations, recharges, and toolkit billing across business units as necessary.
• Serve as the primary finance liaison for the HR team regarding payroll, benefits, and employee cost reporting.
• Assist in the administration and reporting of bonus schemes, commissions, and employee benefits.
• Contribute to the financial components of annual salary reviews and compensation planning cycles.
• Provide HR with accurate reporting on headcount, salary, and workforce costs.
• Support onboarding and offboarding processes from both payroll and finance perspectives.
• Assist with pension, benefit, and statutory reporting obligations where relevant.
• Partner with the HR team to deliver financial insights and operational support across payroll, benefits, reward, headcount planning, employee lifecycle processes, and workforce reporting.
• Support HR projects, including remuneration reviews, benefits harmonization, acquisitions, integrations, annual salary review cycles, and people-related reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities for enhancing payroll and finance processes through automation and standardization.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests pertaining to payroll and employee costs.
• Maintain robust audit trails, reconciliation files, and supporting documentation for payroll and employee cost transactions.
• Ensure adherence to HMRC, statutory, and internal reporting requirements.
• Assist with system implementations, acquisitions, and integration projects as required.
• Previous experience in finance, payroll accounting, management accounting, or a comparable role.
• Strong comprehension of payroll processes and payroll-related reconciliations.
• Experience in preparing journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Excellent Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting capabilities.
• Keen attention to detail and the ability to work accurately within deadlines.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• AAT qualified or pursuing ACCA, CIMA, or ACA (desirable).
• Experience collaborating with outsourced payroll providers (desirable).
• Experience in a multi-entity or international business environment (desirable).
• Familiarity with HR systems and administration of employee benefits (desirable).
• Experience in software, technology, or high-growth companies (desirable).
