Finance Operations Manager – Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Supervise the general ledger, ensuring the precise and timely generation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.

• Oversee essential accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, and payroll for both employees and contractors.

• Manage all facets of tax compliance (corporate filings, GST/HST, IDMTC, SR&ED) while assisting with external audits and governmental reporting.

• Monitor and control cash flow, foreign exchange activities, and treasury operations to maintain liquidity and manage risk effectively.

• Develop and maintain standardized templates and systems (e.g., GL entries, vendor tracking, payroll, invoicing) to streamline finance procedures.

• Supervise revenue recognition and milestone billing for co-development and partnership agreements.

• Cultivate relationships with external auditors, tax consultants, and financial institutions to ensure compliance and reporting obligations are met.

• Continually enhance financial processes to ensure scalability, accuracy, and control as the organization expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPA designation (or equivalent) is highly preferred.

• Over 5 years of progressive finance or accounting experience, ideally within a project-based or creative production setting; experience in external audit is also advantageous.

• Proven track record in managing compliance programs, tax submissions, and financial audits.

• Advanced skills in accounting software and financial systems (e.g., ERP tools, QuickBooks, or NetSuite).

• Strong analytical abilities with a proactive approach to data integrity and improvements in financial processes.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, particularly when engaging cross-functionally with producers, operations, and leadership teams.
