Finance Manager, Insurance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Evaluate the company's capital structure and needs, proposing enhancements for capital efficiency and financial stability.

• Assist in Balance Sheet forecasting and assess capital evaluation models related to funding and capital opportunities.

• Track and report metrics for rating agencies and regulatory bodies, including surplus, risk retention levels, net combined ratio, and RBC.

• Aid in the corporate risk management insurance program, encompassing policy renewals, coverage analysis, and cost forecasting.

• Perform risk assessments and conduct stress tests for adverse scenarios.

• Support the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasting, and monthly projections for the insurance division.

• Execute financial analysis and variance reporting concerning performance, profitability, unit economics, and operational efficiency.

• Lead special projects and conduct ad hoc analyses across Insurance Finance, including M&A, capital, reinsurance, risk management, and strategic initiatives.

• Document processes, models, and assumptions to ensure shared work is audit-ready.

• Contribute to cross-training initiatives to ensure critical processes have multiple owners.

• Prepare analyses and materials for senior finance leadership, auditors, rating agencies, and reinsurance partners.

• Clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Collaborate with partners in Premium, Losses, Corporate Finance, and Actuarial teams.

• Utilize AI tools to enhance the efficiency of recurring analyses, identify errors, and improve the speed and consistency of deliverables.

• Engage in collaborative onboarding related to treaties, capital, and risk management insurance.

• Expand responsibilities to lead Reinsurance or a Capital and Risk Management portfolio.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound understanding of reinsurance arrangements and their implications for surplus, RBC, and risk management.

• Strong skills in capital modeling and advanced proficiency in Excel.

• Familiarity with US STAT and GAAP reporting standards.

• Practical experience with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar for analysis, modeling, or process automation.

• Exceptional verbal, written communication, and presentation abilities.

• Capability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

• Proficient in interfacing effectively and diplomatically with all management levels and personnel.

• Ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams.

• Skilled in working independently, managing multiple priorities, and performing well under tight deadlines.

• Team-oriented mindset with a talent for building strong working relationships.

• Open to feedback and dedicated to continuous improvement.

• Over 7 years of experience in reinsurance, insurance capital management, or related finance roles.

• Experience with a reinsurance broker, reinsurer, or P&C insurance carrier is highly regarded.

• Bachelor’s degree focusing on Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
