Finance Analytics, AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the Finance Data & Intelligence Layer.

• Design and enhance Slate’s Finance reporting and analytics framework across all Finance divisions — including Commercial and Corporate FP&A, Accounting/Controllership, Treasury, and Procurement — along with partner teams like Product Development.

• Create and uphold robust data models that merge the ERP (currently NetSuite, transitioning to SAP by early 2027), EPM (Adaptive Planning), and operational systems.

• Develop scalable data pipelines and layers that facilitate self-service analytics through AI agents.

• Spearhead the Finance AI & Automation Strategy.

• Define and implement Slate’s Finance AI roadmap, which includes: AI-driven variance analysis (PVM, BvA/FvA), Automated forecast updates and anomaly detection, Inventory optimization, Natural language query tools for business users.

• Construct and deploy AI agents that: Connect to finance and operational datasets, Allow leaders to query performance (e.g., SKU-level GM trends, pricing impacts), Automate recurring Finance processes.

• Create Best-in-Class Dashboards & Reporting.

• Design executive-ready dashboards and reports covering: Gross margin by product, channel, and unit economics, Opex & Capex forecasting and actuals reporting, Sales, inventory, and take rate analyses, Plant KPI reporting (manufacturing cost, throughput, and operational performance), Business performance dashboard consolidating company-wide financial and operational KPIs for leadership, Sales KPI tracking (bookings, deliveries, and channel performance).

• Collaborate with Finance and Commercial stakeholders to standardize KPIs and reporting definitions.

• Provide real-time insights for leadership (including materials for the Board).

• Propel Advanced Analytics & Decision Support.

• Develop models for: Pricing optimization and margin enhancement, Demand forecasting and inventory management, Scenario modeling and long-range planning.

• Foster a Self-Service Data Culture.

• Create tools that empower non-finance stakeholders to access and analyze financial data.

• Implement data governance and output validation for AI models.

• Educate business partners on dashboards, tools, and AI functionalities.

• Minimize manual reporting and transition the organization toward real-time, insight-driven decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in FP&A, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or related fields — or equivalent demonstrated proficiency across FP&A, data engineering, and AI.

• Strong financial acumen (P&L, gross margin, unit economics, forecasting).

• Advanced skills in BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.).

• Experience with ERP/EPM systems (NetSuite, SAP, and Adaptive Planning preferred).

• Strong SQL and data modeling expertise.

• Experience in building data pipelines and working with data warehouses/lakes.

• Familiarity with Python or similar languages for analytics and automation.

• Experience in integrating multiple data sources into a cohesive reporting layer.

• AI & Automation Experience (Required).

• Proven hands-on experience in building and deploying AI/ML models, agents, and analytics workflows in production (not limited to experimental or coursework).

• Working knowledge of LLMs and agent-based architectures.

• Experience utilizing AI tools to automate reporting, forecasting, or analysis.

• Strong interest in developing AI-driven finance capabilities from the ground up.

• Effective communicator who can translate data into actionable business insights.
