Field Services Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee and assist with site surveys, site preparation, and system installation tasks.

• Implement and aid in VCS system transitions from traditional voice platforms to advanced systems.

• Carry out the decommissioning of outdated voice communication systems.

• Perform independent system testing and validation to ensure: compliance with power installation, integrity of cabling and adherence to standards, and alignment with equipment and site specifications.

• Conduct maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of VCS and associated telecom/IT infrastructure.

• Utilize diagnostic tools to detect and rectify voice, network, and hardware issues.

• Assist with preventive maintenance and system health assessments.

• Offer on-site customer support and provide end-user orientation/training as required.

• Maintain precise technical documentation, service reports, and cutover logs.

• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, site security measures, and operational standards.

• Collaborate closely with engineers, program teams, and other field technicians during deployment activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience with a BS/BA; at least 6 years with an MS/MA; or a minimum of 3 years with a PhD, with 12 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

• The candidate must be eligible to obtain a public trust clearance.

• Practical experience with Voice Communication Switch (VCS) systems or similar critical voice platforms.

• Background in supporting system cutovers, migrations, or technology refresh initiatives.

• Knowledge in: Telecommunications infrastructure, VoIP technologies, cabling standards and power validation, and networked voice systems.

• Strong skills in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

• Experience utilizing test equipment and diagnostic tools in field settings.

• Familiarity with operational environments where uptime and reliability are essential.
