This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise and, when necessary, assist with both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Siemens Gamesa wind turbine platforms.
• Aid in troubleshooting and diagnosing faults in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, control, and communication systems.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, inspections, repairs, and component replacements.
• Ensure all work adheres to Siemens Gamesa/OEM procedures, technical documentation, customer specifications, and company standards.
• Facilitate the escalation of complex technical issues.
• Verify maintenance procedures and conduct post-maintenance testing prior to returning equipment to operation.
• Assist with significant corrective work and component repair/replacement initiatives.
• Uphold a strong field safety culture and enforce safety standards, including working-at-heights, fall protection, electrical safety, LOTO, confined space, lifting/rigging, rescue, and other safety protocols.
• Halt work when unsafe conditions or deviations from procedures are detected.
• Take part in incident investigations, near-miss evaluations, corrective actions, and lessons learned sessions.
• Confirm technicians’ training, certifications, qualifications, and task-specific authorizations before assigning tasks.
• Conduct field observations and quality inspections.
• Identify and communicate equipment conditions that may influence turbine reliability, availability, or safe operation.
• Review maintenance schedules to ascertain manpower, tools, equipment, materials, and logistics needs.
• Coordinate the mobilization and demobilization of field crews.
• Monitor progress against schedules and report any delays, technical issues, shortages, weather impacts, and execution risks.
• Act as the field-level contact for customer site representatives.
• Provide daily updates on completed tasks, turbines returned to service, unresolved issues, safety concerns, and upcoming activities.
• Foster relationships with customers, OEM representatives, technicians, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Engage in meetings, planning calls, outage/service reviews, and project closeout procedures.
• Ensure the timely completion of service reports, maintenance records, inspection documentation, timekeeping, parts usage, and other relevant field documentation.
• Review technician work packages and service reports for thoroughness and accuracy.
• Document turbine faults, repairs made, parts replaced, testing completed, and any outstanding technical issues.
• Maintain records of crew activities, turbine status, downtime, and work completion.
• Assist with project closeout documentation.
• High school diploma or GED is required; technical or trade education is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in wind turbine maintenance, service, troubleshooting, or repair.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Siemens Gamesa/Siemens/Gamesa wind turbine platforms (SG129, SG145, Siemens 2.3, Bonus 1.3, G87, SGTT - Siemens Gamesa Technical Training).
• Direct experience with one or more Siemens Gamesa turbine platforms, including SGRE geared and/or Direct Drive technology.
• Completion of Siemens Gamesa platform-specific service and/or troubleshooting training.
• Familiarity with SGRE diagnostic, SCADA, service, or maintenance systems.
• Proven knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead field crews in safety-sensitive environments.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, service bulletins, and OEM work instructions.
• Excellent communication, planning, documentation, and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to comply with company driving requirements.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work at various wind farm locations across the United States.
• Highly preferred: GWO training; First Aid/CPR/AED; OSHA 10 or OSHA 30; NFPA 70E/electrical safety training; LOTO qualification; Green profile; tower rescue and working-at-heights certification; rigging and signaling experience; experience supervising major corrective maintenance or component replacement activities; experience leading traveling maintenance/service teams across multiple wind sites.
• Capability to climb wind turbine towers and work at heights of approximately 300 feet or more.
• Ability to work within nacelles, hubs, towers, and other confined or restricted areas.
• Capability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools and equipment as required by the role.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying temperatures, wind conditions, and weather conditions.
• Ability to wear required PPE and fall-protection gear for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and modified schedules based on customer and project needs.
• Extensive travel is required; 75–100% travel may be necessary depending on project assignments.
